KIA SONET launched in India at ₹6.71lakhs

As I have mentioned in an earlier blog that Kia Motors are planning to dominate the Indian automobile sector by launching back-to-back cars like KIA STONIC, KIA SONET and KIA RIO. Well, we have discussed the Kia Stonic that how this car can give direct competition to automobile giants. If you have not read about it, click here and discover the KIA STONIC model which has received quite an appreciation in European countries. Talking about placing Kia Sonet, they place the car slightly above the Kia Stonic and near to Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is currently dominating the segment and Kia is ready to disrupt the market. Do Kia Sonet is efficient to destroy the sale of Vitara Brezza?
They showcased this SUV Sonet concept in Auto Expo 2020, which was held in Feb. KIA SONET launched on 18th September 2020, price starting from as low as ₹6.71 lakhs. Sonet will share the platform with his parent company car Hyundai Venue.

As mentioned earlier that concept was shown in Auto expo and it was one of the major attractions for visitors, the launch car will be a little different from the concept car but the original car will be 90% of concept and specs.
Carmaker have launched the 2 variant in petrol version. 1.2L engine will produce 83hp and 115nm torque and will come in 5-speed manual transmission whereas second version will come in 1.0L turbo petrol engine which will generate 120hp and 175nm of torque and will come in either 6speed imt gearbox or 7-speed DCT automatic. Diesel engine is 1.5L four cylinder turbocharged unit which will produce 100hp and 240nm torqued. If you want more powerful car than you can go for 6 speed torque converter automatic gearbox which will produce whooping power of 115hp and 250nm. Kia Sonet is the first car to offer this in SUV segment.
Speaking about the exterior of the car, this car is given the bolder design even though it is very different

from Hyundai Venue. This type of design is currently trending in the Indian market. Lik
e Kia Stonic, this car comes with their iconic ‘Tiger Grille’. The front part of the car has the sharply designed
projector headlamps with LED DRLS, perfectly sculpted bonnet and dual-tone colour in bonnet grille with faux skid plate in the bottom just like we have seen in the Tata HBX Micro SUV. The carmaker has smartly placed the taillights in the rear end of the car which gives premium look to some extent. We can expect the Sunroof model in Sonet as the car is based on the Hyundai Venue platform.
Kia Sonet will come in 6 trims. Petrol version starts from ₹6.71lakhs to ₹11.99lakhhs and diesel version will be available to customer from ₹8.05lakhs onwards.

Like Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta, the car will have the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This system will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Some other features include wireless charging, cruise control, multi-function steering wheel, UVO connect car technology, climate controller, rear-end cameras, Premium sound system BOSE, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, 6 airbags and many more features. Kia Sonet has borrowed the styling design from Kia Seltos.
The upcoming Sonet will share the engine with his parent car Hyundai Venue. As the car will come with BS6 regulations, we expect the Kia Sonet will come with 1L the turbo petrol engine, 1.2L petrol engine and if the company will launch the diesel engine than it will come in 1.5L diesel engine. 1.2L petrol engine will get the iMT which stands for Intelligent Manual Transmission.  This iMT will come with an auto rev-matching the function which allows the driver to change the gear without using the clutch. Sport model of the car will come with DCT transmission 1L turbo petrol engine.
If this car will launch before Kia Stonic it will be considered as the smallest SUV in India because it is 4mm shorter and it complies with the criteria of Small SUV.
The list includes his parent company car Hyundai Venue, market dominant Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, famous Ford Ecosport are the few names.

Do you think Kia Sonet can beat the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza sales unlike, Hyundai Venue? Comment your answer below and also share with your community.
