KIA STONIC
Kia Motors
India is planning to dominate the Indian market by launching 3 new models in
this Fiscal Year. Upcoming Cars from Kia in India 2020 are KIA STONIC, KIA SONET
and KIA RIO. From this list, Kia Motors is planning to launch the KIA STONIC a
compact SUV in June 2020 although confirmation has not arrived yet. According to KIA, Stonic is a portmanteau word means speedy and refreshing.
Kia Stonic is successfully running in Europe and his first design was showcased
in Frankfurt Motor Show 2017 and the car was displayed in India in Auto Expo
2018. After getting huge sales figure of more than 1.1 million in European
markets they are expecting the same result from India market, will they succeed?
Let’s find here.
INTERIOR
The
interior of the car exhibits the premium quality and KIA can launch the same
premium feels in India with little tweaks. Basically, the front cabin is quite
similar to KIA RIO Supermini which is conducting the successful run along with
Stonic in European market. The plastic material is used which is a bit scratchy,
although front seats are comfy. Keeping in mind the average height of Indian people,
this car is comfortable for 4 people as the rear space is low. Integrated 7”
inch touch screen comes with a clear navigation system; parking sensor and your
smartphone can be connected with the car through Apple Car Play & Android
Auto. Even with a good setup, the car does not have any unique piece to
impress us.
EXTERIOR
The car
comes with lots of colour combinations like Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The KIA
has tried to give funky square-ish design with sporty alloy wheels to the car
in their South Korean studios and looking to the car, it is safe to say they got
quite a success. The front is well built with their iconic ‘Tiger’ grille and sleek
handlamps. The front part of the car looks marvellous from top to bottom. Rear-end
of the car looks like mini SUV with neat details and the bottom rear end looks
alike TATA HBX MICRO SUV. Unlike the other cars Stonic ‘Targa-style’ roof design
that gives you the freedom to choose different from other colour options. The car comes
in Standard 17-inch alloy wheels in Europe which is perfect for there, a slight difference
will be there for Indian Market.
ENGINE
It is
expected that the car will come with multiple engines. In petrol, it is expected
engine will be 1.25L generating just 84hp, 1.4L will give around 100hp and 1L
turbo engine will shoot the power of 120hp. In diesel, the car may come with
1.6L Diesel engine which will generate around 110hp power. According to the
sales figures 1.4L petrol is best suitable for Kia Stonic. As BS6 regulation implemented
the company may drop the diesel engine and like Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors
they focus only on petrol engine car.
RIVALS
Probably all big players in India are
competing at this price level. Some big rival car includes Maruti Suzuki Vitara
Brezza ( price difference is there but the launch of car can affect the sale of Brezza), Honda WR-V, Tata Nexon, Renault Captur etc.
