PORSCHE TAYCAN - PERFORMANCE CAR OF THE YEAR

PORSCHE TAYCAN

Porsche Taycan is the first company’s first all-electric car. You will feel everything from the car except emission. The first impression of Taycan was originally showcased as the Mission E concept car back in 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Porsche Taycan is designed exceptionally with the hint of 911 and Panamera rearview and low and beautiful bonnet along with muscular wheels. Porsche engineers have done the brilliant work by installing the quality of Porsche brand even though it is an EV. Vertical Aero element in the front lightning is something new. Not only the looks but this car has so many unique features and specs to showcase. Taycan comes with 800V electrical system, double than other EV cars. Taycan is also the first electric car to use a 2-speed transmission. Taycan has 5 driving modes namely Range, Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual.

Launch mode of the car is full of thriller which exactly feels like someone has placed us in the rocket and launched us in the galaxy far, far away. This allows the Taycan to boost the power and achieve the significant milestone of 0-100kmph in just 2.8secs. Porsche Taycan weighs more than 2 tons but what Porsche has taught to the universe that it is only the Porsche cars can do exceptional things with so much weight on big muscular wheels. This electric car actually sounds good compared to other EV cars which are currently available in the market including Tesla Model S, the firm competitor of Porsche Taycan. The car has the option to on/off the sound. Unless you want some silence, the voice of the engine boosts the pleasure of driving Taycan. Ridiculously, the mp3 file of this Electric sound comes as an add-on means you actually have to pay extra to the company for the engine sound. Without the voice of the engine, you can’t trace the speed of the car, you need to keep the eye on the speedometer. Talking controversially about the voice of the engine, this car truly fails to match the level of V8 engine muscular delightful voice which we hear from Mercedes AMG engine.
Talking about the interior of the car, it has 4 screens on the dashboard and they are organized in such a way that we can operate millions of functions comfortably while driving the car. Driver’s seat is very comfy like other Porsche cars with 4-5 electric adjustable options. Although steering wheel and brake pedals are arguably mushy despite the muscular tone of the car. This husky power-packed electric car is made for driving but somehow you end up in rear seats still you will enjoy the ride as the rear seats are very comfortable with decent headroom and enormous legroom to which Porsche calls as foot garage.
They have put the below motor in such a way that it creates a massive place for legs. This makes Porsche Taycan the perfect sedan with 5 doors. Luggage space of the car is also very good for a couple of bags.
What to say about the performance of this beautifully well- built designed car, this car shoots 761hp with 1050 torque and delivers the top speed of 265kmph. Although the Porsche claims the 0-100 kmph in 2.8secs but the acceleration of the car feels so much powerful than the Porsche’s claimed speed. Car’s steering wheel responses accurately and brakes decelerate the car quietly thus making it a perfect driver’s car. Driving range of Taycan on a full charge is around 400kms. Taycan takes around 20-22 minutes to charge the car from 5% to 80% with DC fast charger. Car is packed with the gigantic battery of 93.4Kwh.  There are 2 motors in the car in the rear and front which supplies the power to all four wheels.
Everything comes with some drawback even this car too, the car has some high control feature which sucks battery rapidly and additionally Taycan will charge as 50kW as standard and to get 150kW option, you have to pay the company additional £294 just like you need to pay for the muppet sound of the engine.
Overall, the EV cars have to go a long run before considering the normal car but the Porsche Taycan proves to some extent that it can be used like all other normal emission causing cars. Porsche Taycan also proves the point that EV cars can be as exciting as any other normal sports car. Taycan is the most desirable car of this era.
Regarding the price, this car comes as Turbo and Turbo S version. Porsche Taycan Turbo costs around £116,625 and Taycan Turbo S costs around £139,593. In this price range, this car is totally worthy. Porsche is planning to launch Taycan in India at rs1.08cr in November.
