Maserati MC20: Ferrari got new competitor?

2020 is the historical year which we will remember for many years, and in the same year Maserati decided to step out of the comfort zone and make a 600hp sports car to mark the inception of the new era. Is Maserati MC20 ready for the audacious journey to clash with Italian supercar manufacturers like Ferrari and Lamborghini? Let’s find out.

Maserati MC20 launched on 10th September 2020, right in the middle of COVID-19 pandemic. MC is the acronym of Maserati Corse and 20 stands for the year 2020. The reason behind mentioning year is to exhibit the world that Maserati Automobile is ready to enter the new phase.

A supercar is nothing without a beautiful look to amazing others and Maserati MC20 designer took care of that thing. They have crafted the car so well that it looks simple yet magnificent. Aerodynamic vents are placed adroitly on the hood of the car that can’t be seen from all the angles. They give both side vents and side skirts for constant airflow and to effectively reduce the high-pressure air moving underneath of the car. The white colour on the car is known as “Bianco Audace” which Maserati said it was designed to “evoke the gleam of quarried marble, struck by the light of a Mediterranean sunset.” The front grille of the car has featured the redesigned Trident logo. Front headlights are placed diagonally below the air vents. The rear end of the car looks simple with Maserati logo, long attractive headlights and diffuser with integrated exhaust pipes. Fact: This is Maserati’s first car with Butterfly door.

The heart of the car is based on the engine of F1, which Maserati calls as ‘Nettuno’

pre chamber combustion engine. The 3.0L V6 twin-turbocharged engine generates 630hp with 730nm torque. Maserati claims that car reaches 0to100kph in under 3 seconds, i.e. in just 2.9 seconds with the top speed of 325km/hr. MC20 is a rear-wheel-drive supercar. The car provides the option to change from auto to manual transmission with the press of one button. Another Fact: This is the first time after 2 decades the Maserati made the engine without any assistance of Ferrari.

As you open the butterfly door, you will witness the elegant interior equipped with hi-tech latest technologies. Maserati giant took care of the comfort of buyers as well.

You will find 10.25inch screen with MIA i.e. Maserati’s Intelligent Assistant which provides every small detail to the driver. They cover steering wheel in black leather and carbon fibre. Ignition button of the car is attached to the steering wheel as well. They place transmission mode and drive mode in the centre. Maserati provides 4 types of drive mode, namely—GT, Sport, Wet and Corsa. The car has 6 speaker premium sound system and the client can also upgrade to 12 speakers. Another cool feature is the frameless rear-view mirror and Wi-Fi hotspot. Fact: More than 90% of the car is made of carbon fibre, which helps to keep the kerb weight below 1400 kgs and makes the car super light.

Maserati MC20 have become the part of an exclusive club which requires more than 600hp to qualify.  630hp Maserati car has to face some tough competition with Ford GT, Ferrari F8 Tributo, Mclaren 720S and many other supercars. This is the Maserati car, which is manufactured entirely in the Modena plant. Maserati is also planning to introduce fully electric version and convertible MC20 in 2022.
